Mycena subgalericulata

Commonly found as clumps on dead wood and occasionally on bark of living trees.

Cap:- ~1-3 cm diameter, conical to convex in shape but quite variable, with a radially grooved pattern and a distinctive nipple-like peak. Generally light greyish brown with a white finely scalloped margin.

Gills:- White to light greyish.

Stipe:- Long, slender upto 7 cm long and 3mm wide, smooth, with a polished texture, white at top becoming pale brown nearer the base. The base of the stem is covered in coarse white hairs.

Can easily be mistaken for Mycena cystidiosa, but this species grows in earth.
