Hi @jojobrown, I too photographed this same dead goanna, lying on this same piece of road surface with this exact same pattern of stones and tar as seen in your photo, yesterday (Tuesday) morning at 11.33 (one minute later than your record), before collecting it for research. However by the time I photographed it, it was located at least 20 km further north, outside Namadgi National Park, near the farm with many alpacas, whereas your record shows a GPS location to the east of the historic Brayshaw's Homestead. Before Canberra Nature Map claims to have evidence that dead goannas can travel 20km/minute carrying a length of road tarmac, could you please check the GPS location you recorded and alter it if necessary.
@DonFletcher yes, spotted in the same location you mentioned above. We were returning from Brayshaws Homestead, so my phone must have been ‘stuck’ on that location. I’m happy to amend but not sure how to go about it .
Hi Jo, thanks, I have edited it. (For future reference you might be able to see three green buttons top right, one of which is 'edit', so that is how you can change your entry). cheers, Don
