Varanus rosenbergi

Heath or Rosenberg's Monitor

Similar to the more common and widespread Lace Monitor but the barring on the lips and chin is less bold. One of the best ways to tell the difference between V. rosenbergi and V. varius is the pale tail bands which are regularly spaced and relatively thin in the former and of varying thickness and very broad towards the end of the tail in the latter.

Less inclined to climb trees when disturbed than the Lace Monitor, but may occasionally do so.
