Yeah i have those old keys by awesome John Williams and awesome Gwen Harden.
As you know subsequently awesome Gwen Harden and many collaborators made the Flora of NSW four volumes, which in turn have become out of date, and the Flora of NSW online PlantNet website needs a bit of up date too and more funding, these days.

Hence, i checked again the Flora of NSW online PlantNet and again the species descriptions of the three candidate spp.;
sometimes vines of _Clematis glycinoides_ and _Clematis pickeringii_ can have a few teeth on the margins of their leaves too,
which more usually vines of _Clematis aristata_ have, and which too can have leaves without any teeth (ie. a spectrum from, leaves' margins with many teeth all the way through to the opposite extreme of without any teeth).

Hence, we require flowering and/or fruiting parts to go from this suggested species identification –fine as a suggestion–, to confirming a species identification .

Thanks Jason. I was going off an old key (1980) by John Williams and Gwen Harden which distinguishes them by the number of teeth on the leaflets. It’s a lovely old key but I’m sure not in use these days.
