Your photos are an excellent demonstration of the need to see what's under the cap! You can see that the underside does not have pores. Instead, there are short, stubby spines. This is probably a species of Phellodon. If you look at just the upper surface you cannot be sure of even the genus.

Looks much like Hymenochaete cruenta but, if so, I'm a bit suprised to see it growing on theupper side of that log.
