"Missing location" known issue on Android 5.0.3 mobile app

Hi All,

We've identified a known issue with the very latest 5.0.3 android app that affects users selecting existing photos from gallery using the Samsung Gallery app.

Selecting existing images from your device using the "Select from gallery" option via NatureMapt app may appear successful, but fail with "Missing location!" at the time of upload.

This is a known compatibility issue between the current version of Samsung Gallery and the current version of the NatureMapr app and we are working on a fix which will be rolled out via another update ASAP.

Workarounds

Possible workarounds include:

  1. You can use the Google Photos app instead of the Samsung Gallery app to select your photos.
Note: This step requires you install and setup the Google Photos app

  2. You can take photos directly within the NatureMapr app using the "Take photo" option instead of "select from gallery"

  3. You can upload existing photos that you may have via the web at naturemapr.org

Thanks for your patience while we get this issue resolved as a priority. If you need a hand with anything, pleaseĀ contact our support team

Thanks for that information. Much appreciated. I downloaded the update, tried it, using an Oppo phone, and got the 'missing location' response. I thought it was just my incompetence with mobile phones. I don't know if my phone uses something called the 'Samsung Gallery'. It is not a Samsung phone, but an Oppo. Does that make a difference?

Hi everyone,

5.0.4 update just went live which resolves this issue. Please make sure you update to this very latest version.

Many thanks for your patience @RogerH
This bug may have affected other third party galleries beyond Samsung, so quite likely the bug was hitting you even on an Oppo.
